Human-Robot Scaffolding: An Architecture to Foster Problem-solving Skills

In order to give assertive support, robots need understand the cognitive and emotional characteristics of learners while in learning process. Also, if task involves handling capacity, must have similar skills. Three concepts were explored control robot’s behavior: psychological flow theory, scaffolding pedagogic strategy, multiagents-software paradigm. Based on these concepts, Human-Robot Scaffolding architecture was designed. It is divided into five blocks. First, sensory block recognizes body gestures, speech, state. Second, beliefs estimates skills state learners. Third, desires validates goals robot can reach; are grouped development, control, challenge life signals, immediate support. Fourth, intentions block, based competition selects goal that will perform. Finally, action-planner regulates movements according emotions. The validation procedure done with 53 ranging between 10 13 years old who study public private schools. research achievements, fosters Mean-Ends Analysis strategy solution a problem.
